Key Messages

Prosper Africa is a Presidential-level national security initiative aimed at strengthening the strategic and economic partnership between the U.S. and Africa by catalyzing transformative two-way trade and investment flows. By mobilizing private capital, Prosper Africa’s goal is to advance strategic objectives like job creation, increasing investment in infrastructure and advancing Africa’s digital transformation.

The initiative brings together services and resources from across the U.S. Government to empower businesses with market insights, deal support, and solutions to strengthen business climates. We are a one-stop shop so companies don’t have to spend valuable resources navigating Washington in order to do business in the United States and across the African continent.

Since Prosper Africa’s launch in June 2019, the U.S. Government has helped close 1800+ deals across 49 African countries for a total estimated value of $86 billion in exports and investments.

Working hand-in-hand with the private sector and our African government partners, Prosper Africa is driving job creation, fueling economic growth, and advancing shared prosperity for people across the United States and Africa.

The Prosper Africa Build Together Campaign

On July 27, 2021, the Biden-Harris Administration announced the launch of the Prosper Africa Build Together Campaign at the Corporate Council on Africa’s virtual U.S.-Africa Business Summit. This targeted, long-term effort elevates and energizes the United States’ commitment to increasing trade and investment with Africa.

The Prosper Africa Build Together Campaign connects U.S. and African businesses and investors with new trade and investment opportunities, and the U.S. Government tools to advance those opportunities – driving sustainable growth across the continent, supporting economic recovery at home, and creating jobs across all our nations as we Build Back Better together.

This next chapter of the Prosper Africa initiative sharpens our focus around the imperative to Build Back Better from the global pandemic, and to do so as inclusively as possible. Through the Prosper Africa Build Together Campaign, the Biden-Harris Administration will work hand-in-hand with the private sector, African governments, and multilateral organizations to advance trade and investment in key sectors such as infrastructure, clean energy and climate smart solutions, health, and digital technology.

• We will drive billions of dollars of investment in Africa
• We will support thousands of jobs for both African and American workers

Since June 2019, the U.S. Government has helped to close 1852 deals across 45 countries for an estimated value of $50 billion in exports and investments. Explore our results here.

Prosper Africa’s digital channels are designed to deliver targeted messaging to our key stakeholders on the benefits and opportunities of increased trade and investment between the United States and African nations. Participating Prosper Africa agencies can support this effort by:

• Tagging Prosper Africa in posts that contain content that aligns with Prosper Africa goals (@ProsperAfricaUS on Twitter and Facebook and @Prosper-Africa on LinkedIn);
• Amplifying content shared through Prosper Africa’s social media channels;
• Submitting relevant content to Prosper Africa’s communications team for amplification.

Branding Guidelines

The Prosper Africa Graphic Standards Manual sets clear, consistent guidelines for branding and graphic design for the Prosper Africa initiative.

A brand is a promise. The Prosper Africa brand promises increased prosperity for people in the United States and African nations.

The U.S. Government is not the hero of the Prosper Africa story; rather the people behind growing, thriving businesses – their innovation, hard work, partnership, grit, and vision – define the Prosper Africa brand.

Initiative communications should focus on providing U.S. and African businesses and investors with a platform to tell their stories – and discover and showcase new opportunities. Language and visuals are optimistic and evoke youth, innovation, and thriving communities on both sides of the Atlantic.

Prosper Africa is a whole-of-government initiative. Participating agencies are encouraged to co-mark materials with the Prosper Africa logo, as is appropriate by individual agency policy. When co-branding, participating agencies must follow the guidelines in the Prosper Africa Graphic Standards Manual.
