African Fine Foods Pavilion at Summer Fancy Food Show to Feature Over 130 Companies and Expand Market Reach to Africa

Washington, D.C. —   Prosper Africa and USAID will highlight export-ready and innovative African food product companies in the African Fine Food Pavilion at the 2024 Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City, June 23-25. Over 130 companies from the continent will be on display at the Javits Center, featuring food products ranging from traditional staples to inventive new offerings, showcasing the rich culinary heritage and the burgeoning specialty food industry coming out of Africa.

“The African Pavilion at the Summer Fancy Food Show helps to strengthen the strategic and economic partnership between the U.S. and Africa through two-way trade in the specialty food sector,” said Prosper Africa Coordinator British A. Robinson. “The African companies on display will not only highlight Africa’s culinary sophistication, but also its creativity with a focus on sustainable sourcing for U.S. specialty food market buyers and suppliers.”

Specialty foods represent a growing sector in the U.S. The African Fine Foods Pavilion is designed to facilitate meaningful business connections and interactions, and to foster sustainable trade relationships between the exhibiting African food exporters and U.S. buyers, before, during, and after the Summer Fancy Food Show. The Pavilion will also provide an efficient and attractive way to discover new products to diversify U.S. buyers’ offerings and appeal to a growing segment of consumers interested in global flavors.

In addition to the African suppliers, Prosper Africa will also be hosting ABSA Bank and Baylis Emerging Markets, to assist with financing deals; the National Alliance for Black Business, to connect their U.S. buyers to African suppliers; and the U.S.-Africa Trade Desk, a platform that links over 20,000 U.S. retail buyers – like Kroger, Whole Foods, Sam’s Club, Dollar General, Walmart, and Target – to African suppliers of agricultural products.  The U.S.-Africa Trade Desk was recently launched by USAID and Prosper Africa and is expected to increase African exports to the U.S. by $300 million in the next 18 months, providing a boost to products like coffee, tea, macadamia nuts, and other specialty foods.

Through Prosper Africa, the U.S. Government partners with businesses and investors to advance deals, promote market opportunities, and strengthen trade and investment climates.
