Thanks to the Virginia African Diaspora Committee's initiative and sponsorship in getting Bill HJ 133 passed, every September will now be African Diaspora Heritage Month in Virginia. The Virginia African Diaspora Committee and Tidewater African Cultural Alliance are collaborating with the Eastern Virginia Medical School and Old Dominion University's Office of Academic Affairs, Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, and Office of Intercultural Relations to celebrate this momentous occasion on Saturday, September 10. EVMS will be conducting a Glaucoma/Vision health screening for the community; those who need to renew their voter registration/register to vote will also be able to do so, 10 am - 2 pm. Come check out local African organizations and ODU's African Diaspora student organizations 12-2 pm; then enjoy a panel discussion with distinguished guests, immediately followed by a cultural program with Dance, Fashion, Drumming, and more! FREE and open to the public!
