The Challenge

Across Africa, infrastructure gaps affect quality of life and limit business growth, investment, and entrepreneurship. Finding solutions to infrastructure challenges—including those in energy, transportation, water, and connectivity—is necessary for the continent’s economic prosperity.

Our Solution & Impact

Since the launch of Prosper Africa in June 2019, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has funded project preparation grants to support more than 49 deals across the continent, in Botswana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, and more. These grants are supporting infrastructure projects in a wide range of important sectors including information and communications technology, renewable energy generation, gas-fired power, liquefied natural gas distribution, and petrochemical plants. USTDA funding for these strategic projects will help U.S. companies gain access to new export opportunities across Africa, in some of the world’s fastest-growing and most dynamic economies.
